Abstract
:
As its outcome, the study aimed at suggesting a copyright law in the Saudi Arabian digital environment . The researcher took a theoretical route for his research and the conduct of a comparative study of copyright laws in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of other countries which have rich experiences in the area of copyrights law. They are: Egypt, Malaysia, the European Union, and the United States of America. The researcher tried to investigate a number of objectives such as understanding the impact of copyrights violation and the role of governmental and private entities in handling copyrights issues. He answered a number of the study question . Results of the study showed thirteen observation among which were those related to the current system of copyrights law in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and those related to the procedures used in the application of copyrights law. The study forwarded fourteen recommendations among which were the need to expedite the passing of an copyrights law in the Saudi Arabian digital environment and the creation of an autonomous Digital Rights Department ( DRD) in the Ministry of culture and information . the researcher has prepared proposed prototype framework of copyright law in the in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian digital environment, consisting twenty-two rules.
