This study aims at identifying the reality of the application of the online reputation management at King Abdulaziz University and the effect of the use of social networking sites at KA University.
For this reason, the case study method was used in order to know about the actual situation of the online reputation management at KAU. Added to that, using Google Alert as a tool, the Content Analysis method was used on some web sites; For instance, news sites, forums, blogs, and video sites and all the results were analyzed manually.
It appeared through the study that the university does not take advantage of the techniques of digital content control found on the World Wide Web to manage its electronic reputation. Unfortunately, the university does not even use any of the easy technics, and does not seem to show interest to what is published about them in social network sites, except a little interest on newspapers. Also, the study has found that the effect of the use of social networking sites around King Abdulaziz University was very positive and KAU is the most frequently used term on the sites and it is more prevalent on the news sites compared to other sites with a rate of 61%.
The rate of positive results on the university was the top by (67%), while the rate of negative results was very small (6%). The study also showed that the highest rate in terms of positive content concerning KAU was the share of KAU students with a rate of 19%, but the teaching staff top-ranked the negative results with a rate of 2.5%. |
