Abstract : This study aims to recognize and measure the role of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI’s) and its contribution to creating job opportunities (employment) in Saudi economy during the period (1985-2014). Accordingly, this role is to be evaluated; and government policies that would attract further FDI’s may be proposed. Also, the role of FDI’s is to be activated to solve the problem of unemployment in Saudi economy in general and among Saudis in particular – especially with the fact that rates of unemployment have recently been on the rise among young people of both genders. To this objective, the study has employed the analytical descriptive approach and the standard analysis approach with the aim to identify the impact of FDI’s. As well, the study has used a number of other dependent variables, which may have impact over Saudis employment in Saudi Arabia in general, even the number of those Saudis employed in the private sector or the number of those employed in private sector. This has been achieved thru building up the best standard model for evaluating the function of employment and analyzing such function economically thru the use of the statistical SPSS. Findings of the study revealed that FDI’s have limited impact over the number of Saudis employed in general. Additionally, according to the model test, members of the sample group composed of Saudis employed by the private sector have not been affected by FDI’s. From this point, a model has been proposed to consider those employed by the private sector as a dependent variable since it has direct correlation with FDI’s. According to statistical measurement, 98.77% of the explanatory power of changes occurred to those employed in the private sector is interpreted by incorporeal dependent variables represented by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) of the private sector, which revealed in the value of the Adjusted “R-2”. The study has concluded an equation by virtue of which future rates of growth can be predicted with respect to the number of personnel employed by the private sector upon any change or modification in FDI. In order for FDI to exercise its active role, the study has recommended that leading economic sectors shall be oriented – that is, those sectors which have the potentials to achieve the highest added value to the economy; are characterized by high rates of productivity and wages so as to attract Saudis to work in the private sector; hence, solving the problem of Saudi employment in the private sector.
