Abstract : This research deals with the the problems of inefficient methods used by families to modify their children's daily eating behaviors. The research aims at uncovering the used modification styles applied by those who supervise the children eating behavior in the family and the extent to which these styles are based on recognized educational principles. The research followed the descriptive approach applying an electronic questionnaire on a sample of 451 family members who are responsible for eating behaviors of children between the ages of 6 and 9 years old. The sample was selected from families with different educational levels in the city of Jeddah. The selection was based on purposive and snowball sampling. The results showed that 60% of the children's samples performing at least four wrong daily eating behaviors. These behaviors are: 1) Insisting on using the ipad and smart devices while eating, 2) drinking soft drinks and sweetened juices, 3) refraining from eating breakfast meals, and 4) eating unhealthy snacks more than twice a day. The analysis of the results also showed that the most prevalent method of modify children’s undesired daily eating behaviors is force-feeding method then the negative reinforcement method, while the model method and negotiation method ranked the least. The results showed a strongly positive correlation between both force-feeding method and negative reinforcement method used by the nutrition supervisors and the undesired daily eating behaviors among children. The research generally concluded that the majority of nutrition supervisors rarely on appropriate methods to modify children’s nutritional behaviors. The research recommendations urge parents and child nutrition supervisors in the family to control children’s use of smart devices while eating. The research also recommends providing guidance programs to the nutrition supervisors to increase their nutritional knowledge, and acquaint them with the effective methods to modify their children's daily eating behaviors.
