Abstract : The petrochemical industry represents the main role in creating economic value, which raises the proportion of its contribution to the national economy, as there are 725 factories for chemicals and chemical products in the Kingdom with a capital of 577.3 billion riyals, as the exports of petrochemicals at the end of 2017 amounted to 116 billion riyals, And constituted 61% of non-oil exports, and the problem of the study is the following question: Can the petrochemical industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia face global competition? As this study drew its importance from the products of the petrochemical industry is the most important input for other industries, and the petrochemical industry contributes to the domestic product by 16% of non-oil exports, and this industry works to create new opportunities for work, as this industry has 101,098 thousand workers representing 9,7 % Of the total number of employees in the industrial sector in 2018. The study assumption is: The petrochemical industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia can face competition globally. The study seeks to study the trends and development of the petrochemical industry in the Kingdom, and to determine the factors affecting the competitive advantage of the petrochemical industry, and the study relied on the inductive and deductive approach together in the theoretical side, and the analytical method was used in relation to analyzing data related to the petrochemical industry to know its relative importance in the Saudi economy, issued From local and international parties, and it was relied on by quantitative methods, and the statistical analysis revealed the validity of the study hypothesis, and the study recommended: diversification of the industrial base for non-oil exports, and manufacturers Transformational processes and increasing integration between the refining industry and the petrochemical industry, because of its positive effects on economic growth, as well as diversification of income sources.
