In the name of God, praise God, Prayer and
Peace upon the Messenger of Allah.
The decision of establishing the Faculty of
Computing and Information Technology in Rabigh is a
consequence of the Government's interest in the information
technology sector. It came also as a response to the rapid
developments taking place in our world in this area. The
Faculty started to receive students at the beginning of the
first semester of the academic year 1430/1431 AH and started
receiving females in the female section at the beginning of
the first semester of the academic year 1431/1432 AH.
The Faculty has developed ambitious targets to
serve the kingdom development plan, by forming highly
qualified specialists in the field of information
technology, computer science and information systems. The
Faculty also seeks to provide researches, studies and
scientific consulting to contribute to the advancement of
the community and the local region in particular.
Since its inception, the Faculty accomplished
valuable achievements in hiring and attracting highly
qualified and experienced faculty members and lecturers for
the two sections of the Faculty. This had a positive impact
on the educational process and as a result, many scientific
research were submitted in the last and current years.
The Faculty established also the new
headquarters of the Faculty in the university campus. The
lectures, professors and administrators were moved to the
new buildings. It has, as well, established the headquarters
for the female section and installed all equipments and
laboratories that are necessary to start the study.
The Faculty is seeking to take into account
international standards to update the curriculum and use the
latest methods and teaching aids as a prelude to meet the
requirements of the academic accreditation, which will gives
additional value to the Faculty and its outputs. Through the
provision of distinct studying programs and attractive
academic environment, the Faculty hopes to provide students
with theoretical and practical information necessary for the
development of their intellectual abilities and refine their
characters to build self-confidence needed to contribute and
participate actively in society and in the local and
regional labor market.
In conclusion, I hope this site will be a
beacon for this emerging Faculty and be a bridge of
communication between students, faculty members, and
administration.
May Allah guide us to that, which is good for
our beloved country and nation.
